We are supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Manchester team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of central government, residential, higher education, and healthcare projects, delivering high-quality cost management services within a collaborative and purpose-driven organisation.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of multiple projects across a varied client base, including central government, residential developers, local authorities, universities, and healthcare Trusts. You will play a key role in both pre- and post-contract stages, leading cost management activities, advising clients, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with cost, quality, and programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery
    • Lead the day-to-day delivery of cost management services across multiple projects
    • Develop and implement cost management strategies from feasibility through to completion
    • Produce cost plans, feasibility studies, and optioneering analysis
    • Manage tendering processes, including preparation of bills of quantities and contract documentation
  • Commercial & Cost Management
    • Monitor project costs, prepare cost reports, and track financial performance
    • Manage change control processes, including assessment and reporting
    • Lead risk management and value engineering processes
    • Support procurement strategies and engage effectively with the supply chain
  • Stakeholder & Client Management
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships across multiple sectors
    • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and design teams
    • Manage sub-consultants and support coordination across multidisciplinary teams
  • Governance & Dispute Resolution
    • Support contract administration under JCT and NEC frameworks
    • Contribute to dispute resolution processes, including negotiation and claims preparation
    • Ensure robust commercial governance and reporting processes are in place
  • Leadership & Development
    • Provide mentoring and guidance to SLT, junior surveyors and commercial staff
    • Support business development activities and identify cross-selling opportunities

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in quantity surveying or cost management
  • Proven track record managing and supporting a range of experience amongst a wider team
  • Chartered status (MRICS)
  • Proven experience across pre- and post-contract stages
  • Experience delivering projects within government, residential, education, or healthcare sectors
  • Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Very strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary consultancy environments
  • Proficiency in CostX and Microsoft Office tools
