A busy construction project in Croydon is seeking an organised and detail-driven Document Controller to join on a temporary basis. This is an immediate-start role ideal for someone with strong document control experience within construction or engineering environments.

You will be responsible for managing all project documentation, ensuring accuracy, version control, and timely distribution to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update all project documentation, drawings, and records.
  • Ensure correct version control and naming conventions are followed.
  • Upload, track, and manage documents using the project’s document control system (e.g., Viewpoint/4Projects, Asite, Aconex, etc.).
  • Distribute drawings and documents to relevant teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all documentation meets project and industry standards.
Quality & Compliance
  • Check documents for accuracy, formatting, and compliance before issuing.
  • Ensure all documentation is stored securely and is easily retrievable.
  • Support audits by providing accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Maintain registers for drawings, RFIs, technical submissions, and approvals.
Coordination & Communication
  • Liaise with site teams, project managers, design teams, and subcontractors.
  • Follow up on outstanding documentation and ensure timely submissions.
  • Support project meetings by preparing document packs and issuing updates.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all document control queries.
Administrative Support
  • Assist with general project administration as required.
  • Maintain logs, trackers, and reports for project progress.
  • Support the wider project team with ad-hoc tasks.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Document Controller in construction is highly desirable.
Required Skills
  • Strong understanding of document control systems and processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to start immediately and commit to a temporary assignment.
