Manage a manufacturing team to achieve world-class manufacturing standards in which personal accountability, responsibility, development of people, structured training and continual improvement are expected and delivered. Support the Technical & Manufacturing Manager with the development of the team and delivering the companyโ€™s strategic plan; utilise lean manufacturing tools and techniques to improve all areas of the operation. Report on KPI for the department. Support the business goals in achieving and sustaining ISO22716/9001, COSMOS, Soil Association and other Certifications. Role is critical for success of Group55, planning of Manufacturing/Production will be based on best use of equipment, with the goal on achieving plan and budget.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Technical & Manufacturing Manager
  • Close liaison with Engineering to ensure speedy resolution of any production line issues
  • Close liaison with planning to ensure effective scheduling
  • Liaise with Warehouse around componentry and Finished Goods

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a Team of Manufacturing Operatives during the shift period
  • Work closely with other Supervisors, Supply, Production, Warehouse. Use the support structure of quality when required
  • Champion for their team ensuring the team effectively manages breakdowns, faults and changeovers to ensure maximization of machine efficiency, therefore reducing downtime
  • Keeping up to date with the bulk plan and ensuring works orders are printed within a timely manner
  • This hands-on role will include the organisation of the workload to ensure high productivity is achieved whilst controlling costs and ensuring the timely investigation, rectification and communication of issues and key communication during Manufacturing meetings & handovers
  • Recruit team members in conjunction with the Technical & Manufacturing Manager. Motivate, develop and empower team members to demonstrate habitual behaviour consistent with the core competencies and CANDO attitude
  • Manage escalation of issues that cannot be resolved in line with the escalation procedure. Liaise directly with other internal groups or external suppliers to resolve problems
  • Problem solving new and existing products
  • Investigating and solving manufacturing scale up issues from a technical standpoint when required
  • Ensure the team comply with legal, regulatory, and other standards as directed by the line management or the company
  • Ensure all manufacturing paperwork is complete and legible
  • Ensure active & specific Development Plan in place for self and all Team Members โ€“ All training prioritised, being carried out and on track
  • Evidence of regular performance reviews and completion of supporting documentation โ€“ both informal and formal
  • Actively support and look to continual improve both Hygiene and GMP standards
  • Adherence to all legal requirements, Company H&S Policy & procedures i.e. weekly safety checks, mandatory training and Risk Assessments
  • Achievement and continual improvement of all metrics to include, Plan Achievement, OEE, Quality defect rate, changeover times /cleanouts etc

Personal Attributes / Skills

  • Good basic standard of Mathematics & English
  • Previous technical/laboratory experience (advantageous)
  • Competent user of Windows & Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Supervisory qualification (advantageous)
  • Experience in Cosmetic Industry
  • IOSH Working Safely certificate. (advantageous)
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels within the business
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills

Technical / Professional Experience

  • Chemistry Qualification or similar (advantageous)
  • At least 2 years prior experience in role or similar
  • Supervisory experience within A Batch Manufacturing environment

Hours: Monday to Friday permanent afternoon shift 2pm/10pm would consider 2*shift rotating 6am/2pm โ€“ 2pm/10pm

Salary: Competitive based on experience.
