The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.
To ensure RFT setting of the production filling lines. To make line improvements to the liquid bottling lines driving performance and sustained improvement to the lines. Problem solving equipment, identifying root cause and establishing preventative actions. To support each other and wider teams to achieve world class manufacturing standards in which personal accountability and responsibility are expected. Support the Line Leaders with the development of the team and delivering the company strategic plan; utilise lean manufacturing tools and techniques to improve all areas of the operation. To ensure all Health & Safety procedures are complied with at all times. To support the business goals in achieving and sustaining ISO22716/9001, COSMOS, Soil Association and BRCSG Accreditations.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports to Engineering Leader
- Close liaison with the Production Supervisor and Line Leaders to ensure speedy resolution of any production line issues through escalation procedure.
- Liaise with Warehouse around componentry for setting purpose as required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safety of self and others in all tasks undertaken including safe isolation of equipment.
- Responsible for Right First Time setting of equipment in line with planned requirements, ensuring all production lines are ready and available for use to meet weekly production plan.
- Actively seeks to ensure all filling equipment can achieve at least their minimum hourly planned rate.
- Work carried out must be planned and executed in line with individuals’ capability to minimise machine stoppages attributed to self.
- Ensures changeover parts are repaired when requested and available for use.
- Ensures machine running as per normal operation following changeover.
- Actively works with key stakeholders (Team Leaders, Shift Managers etc) to reduce changeover times.
- Identifies and delivers line improvements (that increase OEE) using fault finding & root cause problem solving techniques.
- Completes Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM’s) activities on time in full wherever possible.
- Completes actions resulting from internal and external H&S Audits to ensure all external accreditations are maintained.
- Completion of all mandatory adherence to all legal and Company procedures including H&S.
- Gain approval from Engineering Leader, Production Supervisor to implement solutions identified that reduce quality and efficiency issues caused by equipment or setting.
- Utilise lean manufacturing techniques (SMED, 5’S, RCPS, TPM) to improve all areas of production.
- Take ownership for urgent delivery of top 3 engineering related actions arising from daily production meetings as agreed with the Engineering leader.
- Report all equipment and component part failures to the Engineering Leader to ensure replacements are ordered in a timely manner.
- Ensure all production lines are ready and available for use to meet weekly production plan.
- All waste disposed of safely in accordance with Company procedures.
- Ensure all equipment is turned off when not in use.
- Completes any other reasonable task as requested.
Knowledge/Qualifications
- Mechanical Bias or working toward.
- Effective technical skills.
- Basic understanding of Filling equipment operations including bottle filling, capping and labelling.
- Applies proven tools & techniques to solve complex problems.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Understands the need to work within GMP guidelines.
- Understanding of SMED & lean principles & techniques.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of using planned maintenance computerised systems PPM’s.
- Excellent team working skills.
- Demonstrate drive and have a can-do approach.
- 2 years previous experience in a FMCG industry.
- Ability to work in an ever-changing production environment that is fast-paced and self-motivated to achieve results.
- Basic understanding of Windows & Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
- Understanding of Health and Safety/Risk Assessment.
- Good basic standard of Mathematics & English.
Technical/Professional Experience
- Bottle packing environment.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels within the business.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Accuracy and an eye for detail.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills.
