Advanced Healthcare Assistant

Group, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom. This role is offered at Abbeymoor, a CQC rated “Good” Neurological Care Nursing Home based in Gateshead, supporting individuals with neurological and degenerative conditions such as Huntington’s and Acquired Brain Injuries.

Job Summary

As an Advanced Health Care Practitioner, you will work alongside our nursing team to undertake a wide range of clinical and health care tasks, enhancing the care and support we provide.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the nursing care of residents under the direction of a trained nurse, including basic care such as skin care, application of prescribed creams and eye drops, medication administration, and dressing.
  • Observe and report any changes in residents’ condition, communicating verbally to the nurse in charge.
  • Adhere to record‑keeping standards, administer bolus feed and PEG feeding, re‑position residents, comply with manual handling procedures, and assist residents with personal hygiene and dressing.
  • Perform catheter care and maintenance and stoma care, including urine collections, pH balance, bladder washouts, and leg bag changes, complying with all National Care Standards, regulations, codes of practice, and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure safe administration of medicine and management of prescribed medication, ensuring items are appropriately ordered, received, stored, recorded, and administered in accordance with company policy, guidelines, and NICE.
  • Ensure all care plans are up‑to‑date, accurate, and reflect residents’ care, health, and wishes.

We will provide a full training programme and offer clinical supervision, coaching, and mentoring from the nursing team. There is also an opportunity to further enhance your career through the Nurse Associate Apprenticeship scheme, leading to NMC registration.
