Who We Are Looking For

You are a passionate wordsmith with a flair for language and a keen eye for detail. You are not only comfortable working closely with our chief sub editor to ensure the accuracy and clarity of all copy produced on our luxury account but thrive in using your writing skills to explain complex subjects in a compelling way for a variety of clients.

Your instinct for good writing will be crucial in your role, enabling you to invisibly edit text and create compelling copy that is always a pleasure to read. The role requires someone who is both curious and consistent, quickly adapting to different topics and sectors while maintaining an attention to detail that is second to none.

What You’ll Do

The role is split between two key elements:

  • Supporting the chief sub in all print and digital platforms for our luxury watch brand – checking and correcting spelling, grammar, house style, tone and facts. You will also invisibly edit copy, ensuring text is a pleasure to read while meeting all subbing and repro deadlines.
  • As the main magazine is published in eight languages, the sub editor will assist in proofreading language editions and checking that the international teams have incorporated any necessary client amends across all copy. You will support the editorial team with day‑to‑day admin tasks, writing and research, and help maintain copy flow.
  • Working as a content writer on multiple B2B and B2C clients – supporting the editor and senior editor, you will write and edit a variety of subjects and formats, including articles, scripts, social posts and infographics. You will research different topics and bring an editorial flair to demystify them while balancing client requirements.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to ideate and concept visual assets and actively participate in brainstorming sessions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Sub‑edit raw copy for correct grammar, spelling, house style and tone, rewriting or invisibly editing copy to ensure it really sings.
  • Digest client briefs, research a variety of topics, ideate both stories and formats.
  • Write clear and concise copy breaking down complex subjects for knowledgeable audiences.
  • Cut and style copy to fit in layout, and write heads, sells, captions and pull quotes.
  • Fact‑check and correct copy for accuracy; be a point of reference for style and tone of voice.
  • Ideate visual assets to support copy.
  • Take in client feedback and amends, proofreaders’ amends, and editor’s final amends.
  • Proofread the three Asian language editions of the luxury brand magazine (pre‑repro proofs, repro proofs and plotter proofs) and provide support in checking other language versions as required.
  • Assist with translations – send copy out, be a point of contact for the international team.

Other Tasks

  • General admin – process editorial invoices, take meeting minutes, post layouts to proofreaders.
  • Support editors and chief sub with day‑to‑day workload.
  • Research and stress‑test content ideas.
  • Participate in brainstorms for new projects and pitches.
  • Build your knowledge of content strategy.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2+ years’ experience as a print sub‑editor, with some digital experience a bonus.
  • Experience in journalism and/or creating editorial content (B2B experience especially appreciated).
  • Excellent researching, editing and writing abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Experience using InDesign.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, completing multiple tasks under pressure.
  • An understanding of media law.
  • Experience working on multilingual projects.
  • Spoken and written fluency in French.
  • A curiosity to learn and a love of storytelling.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and time off policies.
  • Generous matching company pension scheme, Group Life Assurance, Private Medical Insurance, Employee Assistance Programme, Discounted Health Checks, Health Insurance Cash Plan, Gym Discounts, Wellness Benefit, Annual Leave – 25 days + bank holidays, Spot Bonuses, Family Friendly Policies, Season Ticket Loan and Cycle To Work Scheme.
  • The GroupSJR office in Southbank on the WPP Rose Court Campus – complete with a rooftop bar offering breathtaking views of the Thames and the city skyline.
  • Regular social gatherings – we’re a genuinely kind, down‑to‑earth team who enjoy spending time together.
  • A team of intellectually curious, empathetic and collaborative people.
  • Salary: Up to ÂŁ32k (depending on experience).
  • Hybrid working: 3‑4 days in the office.
  • Full‑time position – 5 days a week.

You must have the right to work in the UK – unfortunately we cannot sponsor visas.

We are looking for someone who can start on or around January the 6th, 2026.
