Responsible to: Service Manager

Hours of Work: 37 hours a week, 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour 8am to 1pm, Friday

Main function & scope of job:

The main responsibility of the role is to carry out service calls on a preventative and reactive basis on a range of brick making equipment mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Travelling extensively in the UK and abroad installing, commissioning and preventative maintenance work, sometimes at short notice.
  • Carry out periodic service checks on customers’ equipment.
  • Safety working from cherry-pickers, scaffolding and other platforms in compliance with Working at Height Regulations (WAHR), training will be provided.
  • Ensure assembly work is effectively carried out by the approved methods and the required quality standards.
  • Ensure safe use and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • Observe and comply with Health & Safety and security requirements at all times.
  • Responsible for the quality of the work produced and ensure that all relevant quality procedures are understood and adhered to.
  • Actively pursue continuous improvements in assembly methods and techniques and make recommendations for their implementation when appropriate.
  • Maintain tidiness in the workplace, company vehicles and good standards of housekeeping.
  • Provide cover for other duties and offer assistance in other areas as requested by the manager or his representative.
  • Assist in assembling machinery in the factory when not working offsite.
  • Be willing to learn new duties outside the normal function.

Experience:
  • Must have a flexible approach due to short-notice travel/weekend work (E)
  • Experience in a heavy engineering environment (E)
  • Previous experience in a field service position would be advantageous (D)
  • Experience working within a machine build environment (D)
  • Experience within a plant maintenance background (D)
