As we continue to elevate our capabilities and global presence, we are seeking a Material Handling Team Leader to join our dynamic Supply team at our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Norwich.
Summary
Provide support, encouragement, and direction to team members. Ensure goods received on site are booked in correctly, safely stored, and distributed to the correct location within the required time frame. Ensure process adherence and monitor safe working practices to reduce incidents or near misses. Contribute and oversee the implementation of 5S and continuous improvements within the department. Training will be provided to enhance and develop the skills of the individual and the Material Handling team.
What You'll Do
- Team related
- Support and encourage the team to ensure objectives are achieved
- Provide effective handovers to other team members or shifts
- Daily allocation of tasks and organization of absence cover
- Deputise for the Supervisor in their absence when required
- Report personnel and work‑related issues to the Supervisor or Manager
- Ensure the team adheres to Health and Safety guidelines
- Plan job rotation to encourage individual and team flexibility
- Task Related
- Ensure goods are received, booked in, and routed correctly
- Move materials within the factories as required in a safe manner
- Accurately locate material in appropriate storage or locations
- Operate Forklift and other machinery such as Narrow Aisle equipment, Tow Tugs, Lift Stackers and powered pallet trucks as required
- Maintain inventory stock quantity and location accuracy
- Issue material from store to all other locations, internal or external
- Be flexible to work across all logistics functions
- Work within Safety Guidelines, including movement of Dangerous Goods
What you'll bring
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Organised, flexible, attention to detail, team player, right first‑time proactive approach, good communicator, leadership skills
- Experience in a material handling role within manufacturing or stores environment
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proven record of leading a team, good health and good attendance record
Desirable
- ONC or above in Engineering or Supply Chain subjects; NVQ in Warehouse or Logistics
- Experience of despatching, logistics, warehousing or prototype in a car manufacturing company
- Use of warehousing management systems
- Experience in logistics or stores operations within the automotive industry
- Ability to communicate at all levels from senior management to production workers
- Licence for mechanical handling equipment
