Lotus Cars Limited is seeking a Material Handling Team Leader for the Supply team at our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Norwich. The role provides leadership, coaching, and ensures efficient handling and distribution of materials.
Responsibilities
- Support and encourage the team to achieve objectives.
- Provide effective handovers to other team members/shifts.
- Allocate daily tasks and organise absence coverage.
- Deputise for the Supervisor when required.
- Report personnel and work‑related issues to the Supervisor/Manager.
- Ensure the team adheres to Health and Safety guidelines.
- Plan job rotation to encourage individual and team flexibility.
- Ensure goods are received, booked, and routed correctly.
- Move materials safely within the factories.
- Accurately store materials in appropriate locations.
- Operate forklifts and mechanical handling equipment safely.
- Maintain inventory accuracy for stock quantity and location.
- Issue material from store to all other locations, internal or external.
- Support all logistics functions as required.
- Operate within Safety Guidelines, including dangerous goods handling.
Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Experience in a material handling role within manufacturing/stores.
- Organised, flexible, detail‑oriented, team player, proactive and good communicator.
- Leadership experience with a proven record of leading a team.
- Good health and attendance record.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Desirable
- ONC or above in Engineering/Supply Chain subjects, NVQ in Warehouse or Logistics.
- Experience in dispatching, logistics/warehousing/prototype in a car manufacturing company.
- Use of warehouse management systems.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing operations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels from senior management to production workers.
- Licence for mechanical handling equipment.
