As we continue to elevate our capabilities and global presence, we are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic Operations team at our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Hethel. This role is an addition to the permanent role and is a contract role for a 6‑month duration.

Summary

Support the cars side of the business in the technical management and maintenance of existing production lines and development and introduction of new processes and tooling to support new products to those lines. The role provides the opportunity to undertake a wide range of tasks and enables the successful candidate to work with many different areas of the business. Ongoing opportunity to have a direct impact on the success of the assembly operation, influencing in its day to day activities and the way it could operate in the future. What you’ll do

  • Creation of production processes, update assignments and align to manufacturing build requirements.
  • Study operations sequence, material flow, fixturing/tooling, process documents/statements with the aim of improving line balancing, throughput and efficient working procedures.
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
  • Creation/development and maintenance of Process Sheets from engineering released data.
  • Production & Project support as required.
  • Publish clear and concise information including all aspect of Man/Method/Machine (tooling)/Material to manufacturing.
  • Co‑ordinate with Training department to ensure suitable "On the Job" training for new processes.
  • Perform and support time studies for all Product/Process/Component changes to ensure manufacturing's ability to achieve to required Quality/Cost/Deliver elements.
  • Perform periodic Process Audits to ensure products are being built to release Manufacturing Engineering information (Man/Method/Machine/Material).
  • Support investigation of Concern/Problem resolution.
  • Identify build issues/concerns and make relevant parties aware.
  • Assist in finding solutions and follow all actions for resolution on Continuous Improvement tracking system.
  • Support implementation, control and closure of Deviations from standard production processes.
  • Support new tooling/fixtures design and development/specification for introduction into manufacturing environment.
  • Support of tooling, equipment & facilities specification, procurement, installation, commissioning.
  • Prove out new tooling and fixtures and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintenance of tooling & jig registers.
  • Support the build of cars during EP, VP, Pilot and SOP phases.
  • Establish daily status (from VP stage onwards) of new project introductions with regards to the 4M requirements i.e. Man - Machine - Method – Material.
  • Adopt a positive approach to coaching and facilitation and supporting manufacturing supervision to help them successfully achieve the Launch Plan and its objectives.
  • Support estimation of production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control.
  • Support production/engineering/projects with technical input/information to include full understanding of engineering releases/support virtual build events and the ability to create process documentation/define equipment-tooling-Jig requirements for production operatives to ensure RFT build.

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Experience is HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Previous manufacturing, production & engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to demonstrate ongoing skills learning and achievement in area of Manufacturing.
  • Used to working in a production environment.
  • Self‑motivated & driven to succeed.
  • Positive “can do” attitude, eye for detail, methodical and measured approach.

Desirable

  • Higher qualifications than Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Lean thinking or Six Sigma trained.
  • Very good working knowledge of niche vehicle & OEM automotive industries.
  • Out‑going, pro‑active team player.
  • Knowledge of TAKT time, capacity modelling and line balancing activities.
  • A level of knowledge associated with PLC system design, layout optimisation, traceability systems and tooling assessment.

Candidates must be eligible to work in UK without VISA sponsorship. Office and production line environment. Domestic & international travel may be required by agreement.
