As a Lead QA Engineer at Group Bayport, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and stability of our e-commerce platforms, built on Magento and other customized modules. You will work closely with the development and product teams to test and validate product features, identify bugs, and ensure that each release meets the highest standards of quality and functionality. You will be responsible for both manual and automated testing processes, ensuring robust testing strategies across our product suites.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, providing guidance on best practices, testing strategies, and process improvements.
- Oversee the allocation of QA resources to different projects, ensuring that testing efforts are adequately distributed and prioritized based on project needs and deadlines.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all QA-related discussions with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and arrange for training sessions or mentorship to upskill team members.
2. Strategic QA Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy that aligns with the company\’s overall development and product goals, ensuring a consistent approach to quality across the product suite.
- Create a long-term automation roadmap, focusing on automating repetitive tasks and regression tests to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Define quality KPIs and metrics to track the effectiveness of QA efforts, such as defect detection ratios, release quality, and test coverage.
3. Process Optimization:
- Continuously improve the QA processes by identifying bottlenecks, recommending new tools, and implementing workflows that optimize testing efficiency and product quality.
- Establish and enforce QA standards and procedures for different types of testing (manual, automation, performance, security).
- Collaborate with the development and DevOps teams to ensure smooth CI/CD pipeline integration with automated testing processes.
- Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, including functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for both Magento-based features and custom modules.
- Collaborate with product and development teams to understand requirements and create test cases that ensure complete coverage.
- Prioritize testing efforts based on feature criticality, business needs, and risk assessments.
5. Manual Testing:
- Perform manual testing of new features, customizations, and bug fixes across various platforms, ensuring that all functionalities align with the product specifications.
- Accurately document and track defects, working closely with developers to ensure timely resolutions.
6. Automated Testing:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using relevant tools to ensure efficient regression testing.
- Implement test automation for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to speed up release cycles.
- Identify opportunities for increased automation to reduce manual effort and improve test coverage.
7. Cross-Platform Testing:
- Conduct compatibility testing across different platforms, including mobile, tablet, and desktop, ensuring a consistent user experience.
8. Performance & Load Testing:
- Collaborate with the DevOps and engineering teams to perform performance and load testing to assess the platform\’s stability and scalability.
- Identify bottlenecks and performance issues, providing recommendations for optimization.
9. Bug Tracking & Reporting:
- Use issue tracking tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar platforms to log, track, and manage defects.
- Create detailed and actionable bug reports that include steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, and relevant screenshots or logs.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on the status of testing, defect resolution, and overall product quality.
10. Collaboration with Development & Product Teams:
- Work closely with developers to understand the underlying architecture and ensure that tests are designed to validate critical paths and edge cases.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to stay aligned with ongoing development efforts.
- Provide input on improving processes, workflows, and overall quality assurance best practices.
11. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Support:
- Assist product managers and business analysts in conducting user acceptance testing, ensuring that features meet business requirements and customer expectations.
- Ensure UAT feedback is logged and addressed before final product releases.
- Actively contribute to the development of testing best practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and tools in QA, automation, and e-commerce testing to continuously improve testing processes.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in quality assurance testing, with a strong focus on e-commerce platforms (experience with Magento is a plus).
Technical Skills
§ Strong understanding of testing methodologies, including unit, integration, regression, and UAT.
§ Experience with API testing (Postman, SoapUI) and database testing (SQL).
§ Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
§ Experience in performance testing using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar.
§ Proficient in bug tracking and test management tools like JIRA, TestRail, or similar platforms.
§ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration.
§ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
§ Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience working in Scrum teams.
§ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
§ Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and microservices architectures.
§ Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
§ ISTQB or similar certification is a plus.
