Overview
The Bid Developer will play a key role in supporting the creation and submission of competitive proposals for new business opportunities. This position reports directly to the Programme Manager and will collaborate closely with the General Managers of each discipline, specifically Overhead Line and Cable Design Services, to develop work-winning bids that meet client requirements and organisational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of the Programme Manager to coordinate and develop comprehensive bid submissions.
- Engage with the Overhead Line and Cable Design Services teams to gather technical input and ensure proposals are aligned with each discipline’s capabilities and strategic direction.
- Prepare Microsoft Project programmes for each bid opportunity, ensuring that project timelines are realistic and achievable.
- Work with the Programme Manager to align project programmes with the availability of the wider resource pool, identifying and addressing any potential resource constraints in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of risks associated with bid delivery and project execution.
- Utilise industry-standard customer relationship management (CRM) tools for the benefit of opportunity tracking.
- Assist in the preparation of supporting documents, presentations, and reports as required throughout the bid process.
- Participate in bid review meetings and contribute to lessons learned to improve future bid success rates.
Experience
- Experience in preparing customised quotations and/or work scheduling (desirable).
- Experience within an engineering or consulting organisation (desirable).
Qualifications
- Minimum of HNC or Foundation Degree (or equivalent level) in an engineering, quantity surveying or project management discipline (desirable).
- Strong communication skills with strong written English, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams (essential).
- Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines (essential).
- Proficient in the Microsoft Package – Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Teams / SharePoint (essential).
- Experience working in a customer relationship programme, such as HubSpot or Salesforce (desirable).
- Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, with an understanding of project planning and resource management (desirable).
- Keen interest in developing a career in bid management and project planning within the engineering or utilities sector (desirable).
