Ground Truth Labs
GTL builds AI to help understand, diagnose and treat blood cancer.
Since 2023 we have made considerable progress; deploying our first algorithms commercially with global biopharma and partnered with world-leading academic medical centres to develop and validate new biomarker tools.
We have built an exception, small-by-design, interdisciplinary team to translate leading academic research into real impact on health.
Your impact
We are looking for a Founders Associate/Operator/Strategy & Ops Doer to join us.
This is a role for an early career operator with a demonstrable interest in (bio)technology to join our team and play a pivotal part in the growth of our company.
We expect that you have a bias for action, an enthusiasm for managing complex problems, and an early career arc that demonstrates high agency.
Ground Truth Labs offers you a unique opportunity to build a track record of leadership, execution, and delivery of complex work, at a company with some of the most talented machine learning scientists, engineers, and clinicians in the world.
What you’ll do
Carry a message to Garcia.
More concretely
- Support (and eventually own) business-critical work across the company - commercial partnerships, hiring, operations etc.
- Develop, implement and improve the processes behind our outward-facing work - revenue generation and collaborations with pharma and academic medical centres.
- Track and enable company-wide Initiatives and flag what's slipping
- Create clear and logical presentation materials and deliver timely work-in-progress updates.
- Manage meetings for the leadership team: good materials are out in advance, time used well, decisions followed up.
- Ensure high-quality internal company documentation is well-organised and effectively supports a culture of strong written communication within a distributed team.
This role is somewhat underspecified. We expect a strong candidate to reshape it around their strengths and meet the companies needs to do the most good.
What you bring
Essential
- High agency: you identify what needs to be done, bring structure to ambiguous problems and drive work through to completion with limited oversight.
- Excellent judgement, reliability, and discretion: you'll handle sensitive information and sometimes represent us externally.
- Clear communication, with the ability to distil complex information into clear recommendations, plans and updates.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several competing priorities without losing momentum or quality.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, partners and other members of GTL’s wider ecosystem.
- Genuine curiosity about biotechnology, healthcare and the process of turning scientific advances into products that improve patients’ lives.
- Nice to have
- Experience in an early-stage startup or another demanding, high-autonomy environment.
- Experience in biotech, life sciences, healthcare or another technically complex industry.
- Exposure to business operations, commercial partnerships, strategy, project delivery, hiring or company-building.
- Experience working closely with founders or senior leadership.
- Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a small, high-calibre team and work closely with the founders at a pivotal stage of company growth.
You will gain unusual exposure to the decisions, challenges and opportunities involved in building a techbio company—from strategy and commercial partnerships to operations, hiring and organisational design.
This is not a traditional support or purely advisory role.
It suits someone who wants to operate at the heart of the business: exercising judgement, earning trust, driving work forward and stepping into whatever needs to be done.
Working environment
We primarily work remotely, with processes built for high-quality async work.
But we also think time together matters, so expect regular in-person days in London and Oxford ~2-8 per month.
As a team, we value
- Concise and engaged communication - we communicate clearly to work effectively in a remote setting.
- Pride in high-quality work - we pay attention to detail and deliver to the highest standard.
- A strategic approach - we think critically and creatively about complex issues. We identify the underlying patterns and leverage them to develop effective strategies.
- Collaborative co-creation - we are open to diverse perspectives, bounce ideas off each other, and build upon each other’s strengths.
- Equality
We welcome applications from all of society.
We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and parental; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation or any other basis as protected by applicable law.
If you have a disability or additional need that requires accommodation, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Impact
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing startup in the AI space and make a real impact in the field of blood cancer.
Your work will help GTL operate effectively, move faster and focus on its highest-value priorities.
By driving critical initiatives across the business, you will contribute directly to our ability to turn scientific advances into better outcomes for people with blood cancer and beyond.
