Role Description
The Contracts Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Carlton in Lindrick, responsible for overseeing the contractual and commercial aspects of groundworks and civil engineering projects.
Day-to-day tasks include managing contracts from tender through to completion, reviewing contract terms and conditions, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
The role involves coordinating with clients, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors, monitoring project progress, and controlling costs to meet budget, quality, and timeline targets.
The Contracts Manager will prepare and review documentation such as contracts, variations, claims, and reports, while supporting risk management and resolving contractual issues as they arise.
The role also requires contributing to continuous improvement of processes and maintaining accurate records to support business performance.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in contract management, quantity surveying, or commercial management within construction, groundworks, or civil engineering.
- Strong skills in contract review, negotiation, and administration, including handling variations, claims, and payment applications.
- Proficiency with project documentation, reporting, and record-keeping, including use of standard office and project management software.
- Sound understanding of construction contracts, industry regulations, health and safety requirements, and relevant standards.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with clients, site teams, and external partners.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
- Experience managing budgets, cost control, and financial forecasting for construction projects.
- Relevant professional qualification or degree in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites within the operating regions as required.
