We are recruiting two Senior Gardeners to play a key role in the care and evolution of two outstanding central London gardens, each offering a distinct but equally rewarding professional experience. One position is set within a newly created Mayfair landscape, recognised for its rich biodiversity, contemporary vision and progressive approach to urban green space. The other is based in a highly traditional, jewel-like garden at the heart of Belgravia, celebrated for their heritage character, horticultural standards and a record of London in Bloom Gold awards, including Best London Square.
Both roles offer the opportunity to work in prestigious locations as part of a friendly, skilled in-house team that values horticulture, collaboration and pride in place, within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation. You will be a passionate qualified gardener with good plant knowledge and maintenance driven works. Previous experience of supervising teams and managing budgets would be advantageous. The successful applicant will help ensure our award-winning gardens across Belgravia and Mayfair are maintained to a very high standard.
Key Responsibilities- Able and willing to support and deputise for the Team Leader.
- To provide horticultural knowledge and guidance to the team of Gardeners and apprentices.
- To undertake all horticultural duties to ensure that the gardens are maintained and developed to a high standard.
- Ability to supervise, motivate and manage a team of gardeners in amenity maintenance.
- Provide occasional guided walks, horticultural advice to all stakeholders including Grosvenor staff, charities, and students.
- To ensure all Gardeners are appropriately trained and carry out all duties in line with the Health & Safety Policy.
- Assist in the design and implementation of soft landscaping schemes for existing gardens and proposed projects.
- A good understanding and experience of implementing relevant health and safety legislation and practice.
- Where necessary and appropriate, to instruct, co-ordinate and control external contractors such as tree surgeons, grounds maintenance operatives and plant suppliers.
- To ensure that all changes in legislation, new codes of practice, new official guidance and new working practices are communicated to your team.
- Knowledge of plant identification with significant practical experience in horticulture.
- Supervisory experience working in a similar garden status.
- To have good communication skills within a team environment.
- Proven experience working in public gardens or parks, ideally to Green Flag or London in Bloom standards.
- Strong background in biodiverse planting schemes and sustainable horticulture.
- Experience with aquatic planting and water-feature maintenance.
- Good plant and biodiversity knowledge.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and garden safety protocols.
- Awareness of climate change and biodiversity loss, and appropriate horticultural responses.

Qualifications- NVQ3 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent) coupled with a good knowledge of plants and maintenance gardening.
- PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates are desirable.
