The Building Surveying team are at the forefront of Estate custodianship, dedicated to the long-term stewardship of an incredible portfolio of properties across Mayfair and Belgravia. The team is accountable for preserving the past, controlling the future (across all development sectors), supporting the Grosvenor Property UK sustainability objectives, and proactively ensuring against property obsolescence. The Estate is unique, unlike no other, and it is the responsibility of the team to ensure that its heritage values are respected. We are a team of forward thinking, highly experienced property professionals, able to provide a range of technical and professional surveying services, delivered with customers at heart and with estate heritage and conservation at its core.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining Estate Quality: Support the Building Surveying Team in safeguarding and enhancing the physical condition, presentation, and external appearance of buildings across the London Estate.
- Quality Assurance & Risk Mitigation: Lead on-site quality assurance through regular property inspections, proactively identifying risks and ensuring all works reflect statutory, health and safety requirements, and the heritage significance of Mayfair and Belgravia.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure leaseholder and freeholder works are delivered strictly in accordance with approved plans and the Grosvenor Specification.
- Inspection of Works: Undertake inspections to monitor redecoration, remedial works, and the resolution of breaches identified by Building Surveyors.
- Project Oversight: Monitor works delivered by the Project Management Team, verifying compliance with approved designs, specifications, and Grosvenor standards.
- Reactive Maintenance Support: Assist the London Estate Team with reactive maintenance issues, providing practical problem solving and technical guidance.
- Occupier Liaison: Engage with occupiers to address building related queries and respond to concerns relating to their own or neighbouring properties.
- Public Realm Support: Provide support and practical input into Public Realm improvement and maintenance activities across the Estate.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation on construction sites, keeping the Mayfair and Belgravia teams informed of their responsibilities and any site-specific risks or emerging issues.
Key Requirements
- Strong knowledge and practical experience working with historic and listed buildings, demonstrating an understanding of their heritage sensitivities and statutory constraints.
- Comfortable working predominantly on site and on foot, carrying out inspections across properties and public/private realm projects throughout Mayfair and Belgravia.
- Solid understanding of site-based health and safety requirements and the relevant legislation, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
- A genuine interest in property, buildings, sustainability, and construction, with enthusiasm for continuous learning in these areas.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and apply Grosvenor's specifications and policies, and to verify that works undertaken comply fully with these standards.
- Strong problemâsolving skills, with the initiative to identify opportunities, anticipate issues, and resolve challenges independently.
- Awareness of the importance of sustainability, and a commitment to embedding more sustainable practices within dayâtoâday work and project delivery.
