Purpose of Role
The Finance Centre is Grosvenor’s UK centre of excellence for financial operations. Within this framework, the Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the general ledgers of the Group Team, UK Urban Property and Diversified Property Investments businesses are well-maintained and provide a solid foundation from which the Finance Centre can report to its stakeholders. More broadly, the role of the Accounting Manager is to ensure that key areas of accounting are performed with diligence and consistency, while ensuring that the financial control environment around the general ledgers remains robust.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of a team of four responsible for financial accounting and control processes, for example balance sheet reconciliations and day to day bookkeeping.
- Development of a team of four people, one of whom is qualified.
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations for key account balances, including bank reconciliations, across the UK Urban Property, Group Team and Diversified Property Investment businesses.
- Ensuring account balances for which the role is responsible are consistently of a high standard, such that the business can be provided with impactful reporting and generate insight which supports business performance.
- Working with the Head of Group Reporting and UK Reporting Manager to ensure that the Group Accounting Policies manual is followed at all times.
- Delivery of statutory accounts and pension scheme accounts at the year-end, liaising with the external auditors to ensure that these are delivered to timetable.
- Finding ways to improve efficiency or automate repetitive tasks performed by the team.
Key Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with some post-qualified experience, or qualified by experience.
- Strong people manager, with a passion for developing junior staff members.
- Ability to quickly understand and critically assess processes and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail, instilling the same skill in junior staff members.
- Innovative thinker with a track record of delivering process improvements, operating with a growth mindset.
- Operates with an open mind, working with a diverse team and stakeholders in a manner which is inclusive.
