An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Formwork Designer to join a well-established and highly respected engineering business within the construction sector. This role offers the chance to work on major construction and infrastructure projects, delivering innovative formwork, falsework, and scaffolding solutions within a collaborative and technically driven environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting both internal sales teams and external clients by delivering high-quality technical designs and engineering solutions. You will also contribute to the day-to-day performance of the Technical Office, support junior team members, and lead the team when required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing accurate and economical drawings, quotations, and material schedules
- Providing technical advice and support on formwork and temporary works solutions
- Reviewing and checking designs produced by other team members
- Supporting Sales Engineers with project requirements and customer solutions
- Promoting safe working practices and technical excellence
- Building strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Assisting with mentoring and development of junior technical staff
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will be technically strong, commercially aware, and experienced within formwork or temporary works design. You will ideally possess:
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline
- At least 3 years experience in formwork, falsework, and scaffolding design, in a UK business
- Previous experience supporting or leading technical teams
- Excellent AutoCAD and design analysis software knowledge
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, solution-focused attitude
- The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced technical environment
- Experience with specialist formwork systems software would be advantageous.
