About the Opportunity
We are currently representing an established and growing UK supplier of PPE, workwear and workplace safety solutions who is seeking a commercially focused Strategic Account Manager. In this role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, strengthen relationships, protect retention and identify sustainable growth opportunities. This role combines strategic account management with hands-on customer support, onboarding and internal coordination.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Own and develop a portfolio of key customer accounts.
- Build trusted relationships through planned, regular customer contact.
- Identify account risks early and lead effective retention activity.
- Grow revenue and margin through cross-selling, upselling and wider product penetration.
- Create practical account plans covering objectives, opportunities, risks and actions.
- Coordinate pricing, product, onboarding and service activity across internal teams.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, meeting notes and opportunity pipelines.
Candidate Profile
- Proven account management, customer success or consultative B2B sales experience.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management capability.
- Commercial awareness, including revenue, margin and account profitability.
- A structured approach to account planning, follow-up and pipeline management.
- Confident coordinating customer requirements across sales, purchasing, customer service and operations.
- Proactive, credible and comfortable working independently.
Desirable Experience
- Direct sector and product knowledge is highly desirable.
- Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience in PPE, workwear or workplace safety supplies; industrial or MRO distribution; or construction, utilities or infrastructure supply chains.
- While relevant knowledge should support immediate customer credibility, proven account ownership, retention skills and commercial judgement remain essential.
