My client, based in Halifax and supporting a leading sister company in the Lake District, is seeking a hands-on Fabrication Manager to lead their skilled team (of 6) and uphold their renowned high standards of workmanship.
This is a senior leadership role where you’ll be equally hands-on on the shop floor and strategic behind the scenes, driving efficiency, quality, and team performance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage all day-to-day operations of the fabrication department
- Plan, schedule, and oversee production to meet deadlines and customer expectations
- Supervise the full fabrication process, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency
- Motivate and develop a team of skilled fabricators
- Monitor workflow and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct performance reviews and support staff training
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and other departments
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop environment
- Control costs and efficiently manage materials and resources
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve overall operational efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Fabrication Manager or similar manufacturing leadership role
- Strong hands-on fabrication experience (stainless steel ductwork, pipes, screws, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and produce AutoCAD drawings
- Experience with plasma cutters and other fabrication tools
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and team-management abilities
- Familiarity with quality control systems and ISO standards
- Positive, proactive “can-do” attitude with sound decision-making skills
Additional Information
- Weekly travel to the Lake District site is required (the Head of Engineering is based at the Lake District site and you will work closely with him)
- Overnight accommodation provided when necessary
- Mileage expenses reimbursed
- This is a Monday to Friday 'on site' role
