An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within our busy reception team. Candidates must be flexible as the posts can have an early start and late finish on one day. Communication and computer skills are essential. Previous experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be offered to the right candidates. Candidates will be friendly and be able to work under pressure.

Grosvenor & Gresty Brook Medical Centre is a friendly, supportive and forward‑thinking practice. We are an Advanced Training Practice, supporting GP Registrars, Medical Students and Nursing Students, and we are committed to developing both our staff and the future healthcare workforce. We actively embrace new and innovative ways of working to address the clinical and workforce challenges currently facing the NHS. This includes working closely with other practices within our local Primary Care Network, and hosting the weekend Hub for South Cheshire patients. The practice fosters a strong ethos of mutual support and teamwork, where staff feel valued, supported and encouraged to develop.

Main duties of the job

  • Greeting patients at the reception desk in a courteous and professional manner
  • Managing incoming telephone calls and appointment bookings, signposting patients to appropriate services as required
  • Processing repeat prescriptions and clinical correspondence
  • Handling patient queries with empathy and discretion
  • Maintaining confidentiality and complying with GDPR at all times
  • Supporting the wider administrative team as required

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office; experience with GP systems desirable)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment
  • Understanding of confidentiality in a healthcare setting

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of EMIS / Docman
  • Understanding of NHS primary care processes
