An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Receptionist to join our supportive and friendly team. We are seeking a professional and approachable individual to be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a high standard of customer service. Previous reception experience within a healthcare setting is preferred. Applicants should be confident using IT systems; experience with SystmOne would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
- Greet patients and visitors in a polite, professional, and welcoming manner
- Manage incoming calls, book appointments, and handle enquiries efficiently
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using clinical systems
- Liaise effectively with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
- Comply with all practice policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements
- Support practice staff with day-to-day operational tasks as required
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
- Attend team meetings and training sessions as required
Qualifications
- Usually a high school diploma or equivalent. GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Clear verbal and written communication. Friendly and professional telephone manner.
- Familiar with SystmOne, Microsoft Office for emails.
- Ability to deal with patients from diverse backgrounds
Experience
- Working in roles with direct public interaction, e.g., reception
- Handling telephone calls professionally.
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Experience managing patient appointments
