We are seeking an experienced and technically strong professional to take ownership of our surveying and consultancy function, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, quality, and operational excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for all internal technical queries, fostering a culture of accuracy, support, and approachability across all departments – including clients, surveyors, supervisors, site teams, and back-office functions.
- Champion specialist software systems, improving data capture workflows and ensuring all technical outputs (survey reports, specifications, and consultancy advice) are accurate, compliant, and of the highest quality.
- Maintain and audit industry accreditations (BM-Trada, IFC, ASFP), ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving regulations, legislation, and test data.
- Provide operational support to the safety team, undertaking relevant training to support business requirements.
- Oversee quality assurance across live and completed projects, including site audits, compliance inspections, and certification sign-offs.
- Deliver internal training to survey, site, and operational teams, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of product specifications, regulatory changes, and compliance processes.
- Ensure all materials and systems are correctly specified and fully compatible across surveys, installations, and project delivery – proactively identifying risks and providing solutions.
- Lead the onboarding of new operatives and field-based staff, ensuring consistent quality standards and identifying training needs.
- Maintain a skills, competence, and training matrix for field teams, ensuring compliance and delivering structured upskilling programmes.
- Liaise with clients and supply chain partners, providing clear technical guidance, resolving issues, and communicating compliance updates effectively.
- Provide direct line management to the Lead Surveyor and take overall responsibility for the surveying and consultancy function, including P&L performance and supporting team growth in line with business strategy.
About You
- Proven experience in a similar technical or leadership role within passive fire protection.
- Strong background in firestopping (preferred over fire doors).
- In-depth knowledge of passive fire protection systems, compliance standards, and regulations.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills, with experience managing teams and driving performance.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with high attention to detail.
