You will be a passionate qualified gardener with good plant knowledge and maintenance driven works. Previous experience of supervising teams and managing budgets would be advantageous. The successful applicant will help ensure our award-winning gardens across Belgravia and Mayfair are maintained to a very high standard.Key Responsibilities* Able and willingness to support and deputise for the Team Leader* To provide horticultural knowledge and guidance to the team of Gardeners and apprentices.* To undertake all horticultural duties to ensure that the gardens are maintained and developed to a high standard.* Ability to supervise, motivate and manage a team of gardeners in amenity maintenance.* Provide occasional guided walks, horticultural advice to all stakeholders including Grosvenor staff, charities, and students.* To ensure all Gardeners are appropriately trained and carry out all duties in line with the Health & Safety Policy.* Assist in the design and implementation of soft landscaping schemes for existing gardens and proposed projects.* A good understanding and experience of implementing relevant health and safety legislation and practice.* Where necessary and appropriate, to instruct, co-ordinate and control external contractors such as tree surgeons, grounds maintenance operatives and plant supplier.* To ensure that all changes in legislation, new codes of practice, new official guidance and new working practices are communicated to your team.* Knowledge of plant identification with significant practical experience in horticulture.* Supervisory experience working in a similar garden statue.* To have good communication skills within a team environment.Experience* Proven experience working in public gardens or parks, ideally to Green Flag or London in Bloom standards.* Strong background in biodiverse planting schemes and sustainable horticulture.* Experience with aquatic planting and water-feature maintenance.Knowledge* Good plant and biodiversity knowledge.* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and garden safety protocols.* Awareness of climate change and biodiversity loss, and appropriate horticultural responses.* You’ll love working outdoors with a passionate and friendly team, be a great supervisor with motivation and understand that our open spaces are as significant as our properties.Qualifications* NVQ3 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent) coupled with a good knowledge of plants and maintenance gardening.* PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates are desirable.* Full, valid UK driving license.Benefits* Private medical insurance* Health cash plan* Cycle-to-work scheme* Gym membership support* Competitive pension plan* Option to buy additional holiday* Generous holiday allowance* Maternity and paternity leave* Volunteering leave* Continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities* Access to training and learning resourcesThe role will be based in our Landscape Management Team located in Mayfair & Belgravia, please contact us for further details.Grosvenor is proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer.
