GFM delivers responsive maintenance and project works on behalf of Cherwell District Council across Oxford and the surrounding areas. We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Multi-Trade Operative to join our responsive repairs team.
As a mobile operative, you'll work independently, attending occupied residential and commercial properties to carry out a variety of repair and maintenance tasks. Using our CAFM system, you'll receive and manage your daily workload while delivering a high-quality, right-first-time service.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus participation in an on-call rota 1 in 2.
On-Call Payments: Β£20 standby payment per day, plus an additional hourly rate for any call-outs attended.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out responsive repair and maintenance works across residential and commercial properties.
- Manage your daily workload efficiently as a mobile operative
- Deliver high-quality repairs with a strong focus on achieving a right first-time fix
- Complete a variety of multi-trade tasks including: Basic plumbing, Carpentry, Tiling, Painting and decorating
- Use company-issued tablets to receive work orders, update job information and complete documentation
- Provide excellent customer service when working in occupied properties, resolving queries professionally and respectfully
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation, company policies and industry standards
- Carry out weekly vehicle inspections to ensure company vehicles remain safe and roadworthy
- Promote a positive health and safety culture at all times
- Support GFM's commitment to delivering a customer-focused service
About You
- Experience in one or more recognised trades, with the ability to undertake a range of general maintenance tasks
- A relevant City & Guilds or NVQ qualification (preferred)
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach to work
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Previous experience within social housing or responsive maintenance (desirable)
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to successfully pass a security clearance check
