Salary: £33,000 - £36,000

Working Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am to 5pm, Fri 8am to 1pm

Our client is an award-winning fourth-generation family business and a leading name within the luxury interiors sector. Renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and premium-quality products, they supply architects, designers, developers and homeowners worldwide.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Purchaser to join their Operations Team at their Birmingham Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and commercially minded purchasing professional to play a key role in ensuring materials are procured efficiently to support manufacturing operations.

The Role

As the Purchaser, you will be responsible for ensuring materials are ordered and delivered on time to support production schedules. Working closely with suppliers and internal departments, you will manage purchasing activities through the company's ERP system, maintain supplier relationships, and support stock management processes.

Full training will be provided by the current Purchaser, who is progressing internally, providing an excellent opportunity to develop within a successful and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships, including reviewing delivery performance, lead times and pricing.
  • Utilise the ERP system and MRP planning tools to forecast material requirements and raise purchase orders.
  • Monitor stock levels and re-order points to ensure material availability whilst maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Process internal purchasing requests and source suitable products and materials.
  • Liaise with Stock Control and Goods In teams to ensure smooth delivery and booking-in processes.
  • Create and manage blanket agreements with suppliers.
  • Set up new suppliers and maintain purchasing data within the ERP system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing efficiency and supplier performance.
  • Ensure purchasing activities are completed accurately and in line with business requirements.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A minimum of two years' purchasing experience or a relevant postgraduate qualification in Purchasing and Logistics.
  • Experience using ERP systems and a good understanding of purchasing processes.
  • Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and inventory control principles.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
  • Manufacturing sector experience would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of metals and manufacturing terminology would be beneficial.
