As part of our clients continued growth, they are seeking a HGV Engineer due to expanding their fleet with several new vehicles, including a zero-emissions coach, and launched a new premium travel division. This is an exciting time to join a forward-thinking and innovative company as they continue to invest in our fleet, people, and services.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated HGV Engineer (PCV/HGV) to join their engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of vehicles placed under your care. You will identify existing faults, detect potential defects, and work collaboratively with the wider team to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, ensuring our fleet operates safely and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out repair work involving refurbishment and maintenance on all parts of vehicles, including chassis and body.
- Perform scheduled servicing and maintenance, including inspections, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose vehicle faults manually or using diagnostic software and digital tools, interpreting results to identify solutions.
- Complete vehicle defect sheets accurately and efficiently.
- Install and fit new vehicle accessories where required.
- Conduct test drives to verify repairs and diagnose faults.
- Ensure all vehicles perform optimally and meet safety standards.
- Source replacement parts and liaise with suppliers and clients where necessary.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise vehicle downtime.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Repairs (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a similar PCV/HGV engineering or technician role.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
