Not sold on uni and the debt? There’s another way in. Skip the lecture halls and start your career instead. Join a real business, get paid while you learn, and come out with a proper qualification and a couple of years’ actual experience behind you. You don’t need to know the first thing about accountancy — we’ll teach you all of that.
Who you’d be joining: We’re not stuffy accountants in suits. Whatever picture you’ve got of an accountancy firm, park it. We’re modern, we’re into our tech, and the place feels more like a marketing company than anything dusty. It’s friendly, a brilliant spot to find your feet, and you can ask whatever you want — nobody’s going to make you feel daft for not knowing something. That’s the whole point of an apprenticeship. We work with ambitious business owners who want to grow theirs — and we’re a genuinely good place to learn and grow yourself.
The role: This is a real job in a real business — not work experience, and not stuck in a corner doing the photocopying. You’ll be part of the team from day one: the friendly voice on the phone, the welcoming face at the door, and the person learning how a modern practice actually runs. You’ll earn a recognised Level 3 Business Administration qualification as you work, with full training every step of the way. It starts simple and routine, and gets more interesting the more you take on. Nobody expects you to walk in knowing anything — everyone here started somewhere. Settle in, find what you enjoy, and there’s real room to grow.
What you’d actually be doing:
- Front of house – answering the phone and welcoming people in. When a client rings or pops by, you’re the friendly voice and face they get. This is the heart of the job.
- The everyday stuff – scanning, sorting the post, and the little things that keep an office ticking over. Simple from day one.
- The accountancy bits – Companies House confirmation statements, getting new clients set up on our system, chasing paperwork by following our steps. Sounds technical – it really isn’t once someone’s shown you. Full training, every time.
- A bit of everything – some help with our marketing, plus other things as you grow into it. It starts simple and gets more interesting the more you take on. We won’t box you in.
You’re never stuck on your own – a quick daily 10am huddle keeps the whole team connected: what everyone’s doing, and anything you need a hand with. Fifteen minutes, no drama.
The one non-negotiable: You’ve genuinely got to like people. There’s plenty of quiet, organised, behind-the-scenes work too – but at its core this job is about talking to people and building relationships. You don’t need to know what to say yet – we’ll sort all of that. You just need to enjoy it.
What we’re hoping you bring:
- Just finished school or college (or nearly), and ready to start building something
- Ideally four or five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths – if not quite there but reckon you’d be brilliant, talk to us anyway
- Organised, reliable and happy to muck in with anything
- Comfortable with the normal phone-and-laptop stuff
- Good energy – the real kind, not the forced kind
What you get:
- £15,000 starting salary, growing as you do – with a path towards £30k+ further down the line
- A recognised Level 3 Business Administration qualification, delivered with Gloucestershire College
- 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday – with Fridays typically set aside for your off‑the‑job training
- Generous holiday and pension
- A modern, tech-driven, friendly practice
- Regular lunches out with the team – on us
- Flexibility once you’ve found your feet – hybrid and flexi‑time available after your first year
- A daily team huddle so you’re never stuck on your own
- Real prospects at the end of it – this is a two‑year apprenticeship with genuine pathways into a permanent role, whether that’s client services, operations, or bookkeeping and accounting
Probably not for you if…
- Picking up the phone fills you with dread
- You’d rather keep your head down than learn something new
- You reach for excuses before ownership when something goes wrong
