Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm. Occasional Saturday cover may be required.

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading transport and distribution business seeking a Transport Planner to oversee daily planning activities within a busy Groupage operation. This is a key operational role that offers the opportunity to combine hands‑on planning responsibilities with team leadership and operational support. Working closely with drivers, customers, warehouse teams and management, you will play a vital role in ensuring service levels, operational efficiency and customer expectations are consistently achieved.

Role
  • Oversee daily transport planning activities across the Groupage operation.
  • Coordinate vehicle routing, load planning and resource allocation to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Support, mentor and develop junior planners and operational staff.
  • Liaise with drivers, customers and warehouse teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Monitor and maintain delivery performance, service levels and operational KPIs.
  • Manage reactive planning issues, route amendments and operational challenges.
  • Support compliance initiatives and promote best practice across the transport function.
  • Assist management with reporting, analysis and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain strong communication across all operational departments.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience within a Transport Planning role.
  • Strong understanding of UK and Ireland transport operations.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
  • Proactive approach with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience within Groupage, Pallet Network or General Haulage operations.
  • Understanding of transport compliance, driver regulations and operational KPIs.
