A bit about us. Grind is a coffee company that lives in London. Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we’ve expanded across London with cafés, coffee trucks and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery. Today, we serve millions of cups of coffee across London and the UK each year, and we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of people make better, more sustainable coffee at home. You’ll find our coffee beans, compostable coffee pods and ready-to-drink coffee cans in supermarkets across the UK and in hotels around the world. Roasting hundreds of tonnes of coffee each year, the roastery is the heart of our coffee operation. Our talented team sources coffee ethically, from sustainable farms around the world, and then roasts it every day in Bermondsey, south London. From there, it’s packed and sent to our cafés, supermarkets or to our customers directly. We think coffee can be a force for good. Whether it’s through creating the UK’s first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we’re on a mission to be the world’s most sustainable coffee company. In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry - in our first year, we recovered 43 million pods’ worth of ocean-bound plastic.

A bit about the role. Grind Coffee Roasters is seeking a talented and experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead our Supply Chain function and join our busy team in the Roastery. The role is critical in managing the procurement and supply chain departments, ensuring smooth operations and efficient processes across the business. The Supply Chain Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining healthy inventory levels, optimising procurement lead times, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and partners - both internally with our own roastery and externally with our various manufacturing partners.

Role responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Oversee and maintain healthy inventory levels to support business needs while minimising excess inventory.
  • Procurement Oversight: Manage procurement processes to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with both raw material & packaging suppliers as well as contract manufacturers, negotiating better payment terms and sourcing backup suppliers as needed.
  • Sales Data Analysis: Analyse historical sales data and projections to forecast demand and adjust inventory and procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Lead Time Optimisation: Collaborate closely with the Logistics Manager to streamline lead times and improve overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with suppliers, brand partners, and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement supply chain strategies in alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Project Management: Lead and participate in supply chain projects to drive continuous improvement and cost savings.
  • Problem-Solving: Address supply chain issues proactively and provide innovative solutions to ensure uninterrupted operations.

This position reports directly to the Head of Roastery Operations. Join us in shaping the future of Grind Coffee Roasters' supply chain and logistics processes.

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Previous management experience
