Grind is a coffee company that lives in London. Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we've expanded across London with cafés, coffee trucks and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery. Our cafes and coffee shops are the beating heart of Grind, known for serving our specialty coffee and renowned bottomless brunches. We think coffee can be a force for good through creating the UK's first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we're on a mission to be the world's most sustainable coffee company. In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry.

A bit about the role. We are looking for an experienced Bar Manager who enjoys crafting classical drinks with contemporary twists and leading a team of aspiring bar mixologists. At GRIND, we are primarily brunch-led, offering a vibrant daytime atmosphere alongside a selection of classics, coffee cocktails and guest cocktails. We’re all about great energy, excellent drinks and delivering standout experiences, but without the late-night finishes, offering a role with genuine lifestyle balance.

As Bar Manager, you will lead a high-performing bar operation in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional service, driving sales, achieving targets and ensuring cocktail consistency and quality at all times. You will train, support and develop the team to uphold GRIND bar standards, while also overseeing the coffee department. This role requires strong coffee knowledge and speciality coffee experience, with responsibility for maintaining high standards of coffee quality, consistency and training. You will lead a team of Bartenders and Baristas, taking ownership of their day-to-day management, development and overall performance. We expect at least 1 year of experience in both a high volume bar and coffee environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support the management team in the running of a high-volume, fast-paced bar and barista section
  • Deliver exemplary service in line with our procedures
  • Help deliver bar and barista training and development programmes to all bar staff
  • Support with the hiring and onboarding of all new bar and barista staff
  • Motivate the bar team and project a positive attitude at all times
  • Participate in all necessary management meetings
  • Display a smart and professional appearance, representing the company in a positive manner at all times

Skills Required:

  • Possess excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use initiative
  • Ability to problem solve and escalate complaints accordingly
  • Dedicated team-player, who strives for excellence and leads by example
  • Strong time-management and prioritisation skills

Benefits and Perks:

  • Crew Card Membership - 50% off all Food & Beverage at every Grind location
  • Retail discount on Grind at Home products
  • Up to £300 referral bonus
  • Invitation to our Social Events
  • Access to Wellness Scheme

Grind is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all candidates and employees.
