We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our growing London finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to develop comprehensive finance skills while supporting our dynamic team across multiple areas of the finance function.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in day-to-day finance operations and will gain valuable experience across various finance disciplines. This position involves collaboration with project leaders, architects, and colleagues across different departments, making it ideal for someone who enjoys varied responsibilities and cross-functional working.

The role is offered on a 6 month fixed term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations:

  • Create and issue invoices to clients and intercompany
  • Process and allocate customer payments
  • Monitor shared inboxes and distribute queries appropriately
  • Check and process credit card payments
  • Enter and reconcile transactions using CMAP/Dynamics systems

Month-End Support:

  • Assist with month-end procedures including prepayments, fixed assets, accruals, and journal entries
  • Support preparation and monitoring of cashflow forecasts
  • Contribute to resource monitoring and project analysis

Administrative & Analysis:

  • Manage timesheet collection and analysis
  • Handle bank communications
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting
  • Support the development and maintenance of financial tools

Essential Requirements

  • Strong organisational abilities and effective time management
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Experience using accounting ERP systems for financial data entry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Adaptability to support varied tasks and changing priorities
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required

Desirable Qualifications

  • Finance or accounting experience (approximately 2 years, though we welcome applications from career changers and returners)
  • AAT qualification or equivalent professional qualification
  • Previous experience in architectural practice or professional services
  • Familiarity with CMAP/Dynamics systems
