The role involves joining our Europe Finance team, based in London, on a 9 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. This role plays an important part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls, and supporting the business with clear, insightful financial information.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across finance and the wider practice, contributing to month-end, statutory and compliance processes, while also supporting continuous improvement of systems and reporting. What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Managing month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP / IFRS)
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating variances
- Supporting the annual audit process
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Preparing VAT returns and ensuring HMRC compliance
- Supporting financial reporting for international entities, including Middle East operations
- Analysing financial and project performance data to help inform business decisions
- Working collaboratively with project managers and colleagues across the practice
- Contributing to improvements in financial processes, systems and internal controls
What we’re looking for:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or equivalent professional experience with demonstrable technical accounting knowledge
- Experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within a professional services environment
- Good working knowledge of financial reporting standards
- Experience working in multi-entity and/or multi-currency environments
- Confidence using ERP systems and strong Excel skills
- A structured, detail-focused approach with good analytical skills
- The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Clear, professional communication skills and a collaborative working style
- Experience in architecture, engineering or construction, or exposure to Middle East operations, would be beneficial but is not essential.
