To manage activities, monitor and progress of all production projects within the department to ensure they are delivered to the correct specification and within the agreed timescales and budgets.
Objectives
- Following schedules to maintain delivery dates
- Being able to cross trade when needed
- Ability to inspect products for fit, form and function requirements
- Able to suggest improved methodology relating to all mechanical assemblies
- Motivate staff to achieve departmental and personal objectives
- Understand company values and help achieve them
- Ensure staff work to the correct standards and procedures
- Develop and encourage teamwork and participation
- Forward planning to make sure projects follow schedules
- Develop, encourage and apply mechanical engineering principles; identify, analyse and solve complex engineering problems, ensuring practical and cost-effective solutions.
- To ensure that all mechanical systems, products and components meet quality standards through testing and validation
- Maintain standards for Health and Safety within the department
- Take responsibility to ensure that the company's environmental policies are enforced in full.
- To reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents by implementing comprehensive safety programs and promoting safe behaviours.
Qualifications/Experience
- Experience of leading a production team within a similar project environment
- Ability to coach and develop other members of staff
- Capable of working with customers and staff at all levels
- Ability to motivate others who are not direct reports
- Ability to generate a positive project and team ethos
- Ability to work independently abroad for current customers
- Experienced in Lathe and Mill operation
- Proven experience in Marine Industry
- Knowledge or experience with engines
- Understanding of technical mechanical drawings
