Job Description
To support the outfitting team carry out general outfitting tasks ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to marine safety standards.
Objectives
- Assist in the build of marine vessels to agreed specifications
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment within the shipyard/workshop
- Support skilled trades in delivering high-quality finishes
- Ensure compliance with marine industry standards and health & safety regulations
- Report defects, hazards, or issues to supervisors promptly
- Assist in boat construction, including hull preparation, fitting, and finishing
- Carry out sanding, grinding and cutting.
- Support installation of components
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard/workshop
- Follow all health & safety procedures, including use of PPE
- Support lifting, moving, and positioning of vessels and components
Qualifications/Experience
- Previous experience in boat building /marine engineering (Desirable not essential)
- Experience with metal work, wood work, or marine finishes is highly desirable
- Knowledge of hand and power tools
- Understanding of workplace health & safety practices
- Able to work in demanding environments
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
