The Production Engineer supports manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining production data, manufacturing documentation, and engineering processes. The role works closely with design, production, and supply chain teams to ensure manufactured components and assemblies are clearly defined, costed, and delivered efficiently. As the business continues to modernise its engineering and manufacturing systems, the role will also support improvements to engineering data management, production workflows, and digital tools.
Objectives
- Determine appropriate manufacturing methods for new and existing parts and assemblies
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, and other manufacturing documentation
- Issue production work instructions including drawings, BOMs, job travellers, and other relevant information
- Input and maintain material and labour costing information within manufacturing records
- Administer engineering change requests (ECRs) and maintain configuration control of manufacturing data
- Review booked production hours and lead times against planned values and investigate significant variances
- Support production teams with technical queries and manufacturing issues
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure suitability for manufacture
- Contribute to improvements in manufacturing processes, documentation, and engineering systems
Experience & Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
- Experience working within a manufacturing or production engineering environment
- Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials, work instructions/methods of manufacture, or similar manufacturing documentation
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural engineering drawings
- Experience working with ERP or MRP systems within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, and supply chain teams
