Hi, we’re Griffin. We’re a fully regulated UK bank that powers the accounts and payments offerings of product-led fintechs and platforms like Uber, Yonder, Prosper, and Sidekick. By doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes, our customers can focus on delivering amazing customer experiences. We’ve grown rapidly since our launch in 2024, and today provide the banking backbone behind products in remittance, payroll, wealth, insurance, proptech, payments, neobanking and more. We’re moving into card issuing, stablecoin infrastructure, and agentic finance next as we continue to support the next generation of product-led companies.

Our culture: we believe that smart, motivated, conscientious people thrive in high-trust, high-autonomy environments and have done our best to create such an environment at Griffin. We’ve been remote-first since we were established in 2017 and we remain so today. Work here is asynchronous and fully flexible — because we want to be a part of your life in a way that helps you get the most out of both your work and home life. We won’t hire people who don’t seem like a strong fit for our core values, even if they’re otherwise extremely qualified. Our strong culture has helped us to remain a mission-driven company and gives our people a clear, explicit operating framework and the space to focus on delivering real value for our customers.

The Team: Griffin's Finance team is the engine that keeps a regulated bank running accurately and compliantly. From month-end reporting to audit support, the team manages everything that ensures our financial position is understood, trusted, and acted on. They translate complex financial data into clear insights that drive decisions and work to make processes sharper, leaner, and smarter.

The Opportunity: This is a one-year placement that gives you hands-on experience inside the finance function of a real, operating tech-led bank. You’ll work across journals and reconciliations to AI-powered process improvements, getting hands-on with the platforms and workflows that keep a regulated bank running. From day one, you’ll own real work that the team depends on and leave with practical skills in accounting, systems, and emerging tools.

What Success Looks Like: During your year with us, you’ll keep accounts payable, expenses, and month-end processes running accurately and on time, and support a year-end audit. You’ll bring genuine improvements to at least one area of our workflows by streamlining something that used to be manual into something faster, repeatable and auditable.

To Do This You’ll Own:

  • Supporting the preparation of month-end P&L and balance sheet statements alongside the Financial Accounting Manager
  • Preparing and posting accounting journals with accuracy and care
  • Managing the accounts payable system and process end-to-end
  • Running the expense claims process and keeping it moving smoothly
  • Supporting billing and accounts receivable reconciliation
  • Helping with the year-end audit process and departmental reporting
  • Developing new accounting procedures and building data tools — including using AI — to make processes faster, more accurate, and more repeatable

Your Background: To ensure this, we’re looking for people who have:

  • Enrolled on a Finance related degree and on track to achieve a 2.1
  • A genuine passion for numbers and how they tell a story about a business
  • Exceptional attention to detail — you notice the thing that doesn’t add up
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand why, not just what
  • The drive to improve how things work, with the organisational skills to follow through
  • Confidence with spreadsheets and a willingness to get fluent in new tools quickly
  • A love of writing — you will contribute to a significant amount of written documentation with a high emphasis on clarity and readability

Bonus Points:

  • Any prior work experience in financial services — even brief exposure helps
  • Experience using AI tools to manage, clean, or analyse data
  • Familiarity with tax concepts or compliance requirements

What can we offer you? We are an early stage startup and we’re expanding our benefits package. We’re planning to add to this list in the future.

  • Salary: £25,000
  • Remote-first flexibility: Work from anywhere in the UK
  • Work from abroad: Up to 20 days a year
  • Time off: 25 days’ holiday, bank holidays and a winter break
  • Pension: Auto-enrolment into our Penfold scheme
  • Insurance: Private medical with Bupa (including family cover) and life insurance with AIG
  • Wellbeing: 1:1 coaching and therapy session available through Oliva
  • AI tools: Claude subscription and access to other premium tools
  • Your setup: Support to create a comfortable and effective WFH environment

How do I apply? If you’re interested, apply via the link below. Our Talent team will reach out to schedule an initial conversation and explain the next steps.

We’re remote-first: We hire across the UK and most of our team works remotely full-time. We have a small London office in Moorgate for those who want it, but there is no expectation to be there. What matters is the work, not where you do it.

Under representation: Our goal is for Griffin to proportionally represent the diversity of the working population in society. We’re working to ensure that Griffin is a supportive, empowering and inclusive environment for every member of our team — whatever your race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical ability, nationality, neurodiversity, and religious beliefs. If you’re part of a group that is under-represented in fintech, we’d love to hear from you.
