Role Overview

As part of the Commercial team, this role plays a crucial role in identifying and securing strategic land opportunities for EV charging infrastructure. The position requires strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with landowners and key stakeholders. Reporting to the Head of Origination, you will be responsible for driving the expansion of the site pipeline, ensuring sites align with commercial, technical, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Origination & Viability Assessment: Identify, assess, and qualify potential sites based on commercial viability, deliverability, and alignment with the company\’s growth strategy.
  • Negotiation & Deal Structuring: Lead leasehold negotiations with landowners, ensuring commercially viable terms for EV charging sites.
  • Business Development & Networking: Establish and nurture relationships with landowners, agents, and stakeholders to create a consistent pipeline of land acquisition opportunities.
  • Proposal Development & Presentation: Develop and present compelling site proposals to potential partners, securing buy-in for strategic land acquisitions.
  • Pipeline Management & Target Delivery: Ensure a steady flow of sites progressing through Heads of Terms and grid offer stages, meeting departmental and individual targets.
  • Market Intelligence & Insights: Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions, feeding insights back into the business.
  • Reporting & CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of site origination activities, updating CRM systems and providing regular reports on pipeline status.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with legal, development, and commercial teams to facilitate site acquisition and development.
  • Lead Generation & Proactive Outreach: Independently generate leads through research, networking, and engagement with strategic partners.

Person Specification

Required Experience:

  • Extensive experience in business development within a relevant industry, preferably EV charging or commercial real estate.
  • Proven track record in site acquisition, negotiation, and commercial deal structuring.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Charge Point Operator (CPO) sector, including key industry trends and challenges.
  • Experience in responding to and securing complex tenders.
  • Background in a fast-paced, scale-up environment, demonstrating adaptability in a rapidly evolving industry.
  • Demonstrable success in achieving and exceeding acquisition targets.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Relationship Management: Ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Commercial Analysis: Strong analytical skills to assess site potential and develop business cases.
  • Real Estate & Development Understanding: Basic knowledge of commercial property development processes.
  • CRM & Reporting: Proficiency in using CRM platforms for tracking and reporting site origination activities.
  • Contract Negotiation: Skilled in negotiating and structuring lease agreements and commercial contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience in commercial real estate, infrastructure development, or project management is advantageous.
