GRIDSERVE is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to manage and ensure compliance with all tax regulations for our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UK tax laws, be confident in preparing tax returns, and provide strategic advice to optimise the company’s tax position.
- Preparation and completion of year-end tax provision exercise under IAS liaising directly with external auditors and working closely with the finance team throughout.
- Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns for a principally UK group of c 20+ active corporate entities, to also include CIR preparation and return submission. Experience of ONESOURCE Corporation Tax advantageous.
- Management of UK R&D tax credit process – working alongside internal engineering teams to fully understand business processes and potential for R&D qualifying activities.
- Transfer Pricing considerations – awareness and undertaking of transfer pricing projects where required within the group to include management charges etc.
- Maximisation of capital allowance claims across the various asset classes within the group to enhance future tax relief.
- Tax input to any ad hoc business reorganisations/restructuring or commercial projects as necessary.
- Working with legal team with regard to contract reviews and provision of tax input, together with discussion with 3rd parties where necessary.
- Responsibility for VAT compliance processes within the group together with review/maintenance of internal manuals used by the business when preparing VAT return submissions – some knowledge of property transactions also advantageous (SDLT queries can also arise).
- Knowledge of Postponed VAT Accounting, CDS, use of EORI and UK Integrated Online Tariff process would be advantageous though not essential.
- Proven experience in UK corporate tax, either in practice or in-house.
- Strong knowledge of UK tax laws and HMRC procedures.
- Proficient in Excel and accounting/tax software (D365 experience advantageous, although not essential).
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
- ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified (or equivalent).
