About us
At Gridcog, we’re on a mission to accelerate investment in the clean energy transition.
We’re a Saa S start-up of energy nerds building the best project modelling software around, used on everything from co‑located solar and storage to microgrids and EV fleets.
Our clients, many of the world’s leading Developers, IPPs, Consultants and Energy Users, are putting hundreds of millions into the transition, and we help them direct that money into the right projects: the ones that make both commercial and environmental sense.
Who we’re looking for
We’ve built a strong brand in our home markets of the UK and Australia, mostly through thought leadership.
Our analysis and point of view get noticed by the people who matter in energy, and one excellent Marketing Manager – Content & Events has done a great job of running the show.
Now we’re scaling fast, extending into Europe (we have teams in Germany and Spain), and the playbook is yours to scale with us: more channels, a growth engine that feeds sales with qualified leads, a sharper tone, and counter‑positioning against a growing field of competitors.
You’ll bring the ideas on where to play next.
This is a player‑coach role, not a pure management job.
You’ll lead a small, globally spread team, our Marketing Manager – Content & Events plus a new Growth Marketing Manager, help them amplify the thought leaders inside Gridcog, and stay hands‑on in the work yourself.
We don’t work with agencies.
We’d rather do things in‑house, use AI to punch above our weight, and bring in specialists only where they really add value.
Energy marketing tends to be boring.
That’s not us, and it’s not our vision.
We want someone bold who takes risks, measures everything, and changes course fast when something isn’t working.
You’ll report to our CCO and we expect you to challenge them and the wider Exec team.
We care more about the impact you’ve delivered than the headcount you’ve managed; maybe you built a marketing function, brand and playbook from the ground up at a Series A/B startup, or came up through an agency where output was everything.
If this sounds like you, please read on!
What you’ll do as part of our team
- Own Gridcog’s marketing strategy, plan, budget and performance, with a clear focus on generating qualified top‑of‑funnel leads for sales.
- Open new doors for
Gridcog: bring bold ideas, write new playbooks and take us into channels and formats we haven’t tried.
This role is not just about doing the same things better.
- Build a clear marketing plan spanning brand, content, campaigns, events, paid and organic, and execute on it. We want someone who is accountable for action, not just intent.
- Support your team, including our Marketing Manager – Content & Events, to make our content, events and thought leadership sharper and more commercial: educating the market on why energy project modelling matters and why Gridcog’s solution is the best, using our data, modelling and customer logos to make the case.
- Support our Growth Marketing Manager to build and execute on our growth strategy, including paid, organic SEO and conversion.
- Bring a consistent look and feel to everything Gridcog puts out. We’ve been liberal with our brand guidelines to date and want to tighten this up.
- Extend the brand strength we’ve built in the UK and Australia into our European markets, working with our local teams in Germany and Spain.
- Develop a deep understanding of our customers and competitors, so our tone, content and counter‑positioning land with the people we’re trying to reach.
- Own Gridcog’s positioning and messaging, including making sure the market understands how we are different and better than alternatives, and how we launch new product capabilities and take our product into new markets.
- Make our website work for us as a genuine marketing and lead generation asset, not just a shopfront.
- Work closely with sales to align campaigns, events and content with target accounts and revenue priorities.
- Challenge our thinking, including the CCO and Exec team, and bring new ideas from outside the energy bubble.
What success looks like
- Sales’ problem is too many good marketing leads, not too few.
- There’s a plan, and we ship against it every week.
- When the market talks about energy project modelling, they use our words. So do our competitors, a quarter late.
- You can tell it’s Gridcog before you see the logo.
- In Europe, Gridcog needs no introduction.
- You are constantly challenging the Exec team and executing on new ideas.
To be successful in this role you will have
- A track record of building a marketing function, brand and playbook at a Series A/B startup, not just hiring a team, or of delivering standout results in an agency environment.
- Demonstrated success building repeatable lead generation that sales teams actually value.
- Genuine multi‑channel experience and an appetite for trialling new things: you’re always evolving the playbook, and you aren’t precious when something doesn’t land.
- Strong measurement discipline: you know your numbers, you report on them honestly, and you change course when they tell you to.
- Comfort owning our martech stack, including CRM, analytics and data, and the judgement to advise on and implement new tools where we need them.
- Excellent creative and content judgement, with the ability to turn complex technical ideas into bold, credible marketing.
- A player‑coach approach: you can set the strategy, develop your team, and also write, brief, edit and ship the work yourself.
- The confidence to challenge senior stakeholders with a different point of view, and the judgement to know when to push and when to commit.
- An AI‑native way of working: you use AI tools every day to move faster and do more with less, and you know when to override them.
We’d also love it if you have
- Experience in B2B Saa S, energy or another complex technical market.
- Experience counter‑positioning a challenger brand against larger or better‑funded competitors.
- Strong digital and growth marketing skills across paid, SEO, conversion optimisation and analytics.
- Startup experience and comfort with ambiguity.
- Fluency in a second European language.
Benefits
- Competitive remuneration package aligned with experience and skills, plus equity: everyone at Gridcog gets a stake in the company.
- Opportunity to work as part of our social London, Berlin or Madrid based teams with flexible working arrangements.
- Be part of a high‑performing team that values innovation and creative problem‑solving.
- Contribute to the decarbonisation of the world’s energy system.
- Support for ongoing professional and personal development.
- An annual all‑company retreat; our previous retreats were in Bali and Bintan Island.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team at Gridcog.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, as we believe an inclusive environment and diversity of perspective leads to innovation and success.

You might be exactly who we’re looking for.
