Senior Designer with motion graphics experience

We are looking for a senior designer and motion graphics creative who can help push the company forward by creating the sort of work you see and go, yes, that is what design should look like. Before we get into the specifics, let me tell you a bit about what we do and who we work with. Grid Studios is a production company, photography studio, and talent agency based in Old Street, London. The production side has been running for nearly seven years and is best known for creating social content for well-known brands such as Wella and Lucozade. While we still create content across various sectors, we specialise in hair and beauty, with professional haircare being where we have made a real name for ourselves. We love making hair content so much that we have actually built a studio specifically designed to capture this content perfectly. Our studio has been open for around 18 months and is an industry-first with regard to how it is set up. We have six styling stations, a backwash you can get cameras around and over 1000 sqft of shoot space. Everything is lit by our custom-designed lighting system, which is perfectly colour-balanced no matter where you are in the space. Our hair clients are household names such as Batiste and Babyliss, and we work with brands such as Fenty & Aqua dell’ Elba with a couple of new wins (which we can’t talk about yet). If you’re thinking you would like to get free drinks, we also work on creating social and campaign content for Ribena and Lucozade and do a lot of experiential content with our partners at Zeal. Your role

You’ll be our go-to creative for everything design and motion. Coming up with ideas, designing visuals, and animating content that makes our brands stand out. You’ll collaborate with our producers, editors, and clients to create visually stunning work that lives across social, digital, and beyond. We are interested in pushing forward and seeing how we can integrate this across our own platforms as Grid builds its reputation in the industry.

Your objectives

• Push our design and motion output to new creative heights
• Help shape the visual direction of the brands we work with and deliver work they are proud of.
• Support the creative team in pitching and developing fresh, social-first ideas
• Bring consistency and quality to every creative asset we produce

Your responsibilities

• Create social-first ads for the hair and beauty industry
• Branding and static design for social media
• Design and animate brand films across multiple formats and platforms
• Add titles, graphics, and motion treatments to film content
• Produce beautiful static assets using our in-house photography
• Develop original design concepts aligned with client guidelines
• Ideate and pitch creative ideas for social content and campaigns
• Design presentations, pitch decks, and hype reels
• Retouch photos and colour grade film
• Take ownership of projects from idea to delivery
• Confidently present and pitch work to clients and internal teams

Nice to haves

• Photography or videography experience (studio or phone-led)
• Web design (especially in Framer)
• Interest in beauty, fashion, or culture

Your expertise

• 5+ years experience as a Designer or Motion Graphics Artist
• Excellent skills in the Adobe suite, specifically After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator. Premiere Pro, Capture One, and Davinci are a plus.
• Strong design eye and deep understanding of social media formats and trends
• Proven ability to ideate, design, and deliver across multiple platforms
• A passion for storytelling through visual design and motion
• Confidence in presenting creative ideas and collaborating with clients

Compensation and information

• £50,000–£60,000 per year (DOE)
• 40-hour work week, hybrid (minimum 3 days in the studio, Old Street)
• 28-days of holiday
• Closed over Christmas
• Free coffee from our on-site cafe, Grid Coffee, and yes, we have a studio dog called Bruce.
