Interim Finance Director in Luton

Our client, a rapidly expanding SME in the FMCG sector, is seeking an Interim Finance Director to lead their finance function and partner closely with department heads across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, ensuring robust controls, and providing commercial insight to support growth ambitions.

Location: Bedfordshire (5 days p/w onsite)

Contract length: 3-6 months

Candidate Rate: £800-£1,000 per day (outside IR35)

Start Date: Dec/Jan

Key responsibilities of the Interim Finance Director

• Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the division, collaborating closely with senior leadership to shape financial strategy.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market conditions.
• Monitor and analyse financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes to drive efficiency and profitability.
• Partner with operational managers to discuss budget, pricing, and promotions.
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, offering insights and recommendations.
• Oversee and guide the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Essential requirements of the Interim Finance Director

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with significant senior finance leadership experience.
• Strong background in FMCG or similar fast-moving, product-led environments.
• Commercially astute with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels.
• Hands-on approach suited to an SME environment undergoing rapid growth.
• Available at short notice and comfortable operating in an interim capacity.
