A high-growth, private equity-backed engineering services business is seeking a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to join its executive leadership team. The business has scaled rapidly through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions and is now entering its next phase of expansion. This role is critical in shaping and delivering a robust, scalable commercial strategy across a recurring revenue, service-led model.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CCO will take full ownership of the commercial function, driving revenue growth, pricing strategy, customer engagement, and brand evolution, while also overseeing key central functions.
Responsibilities- Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute the company’s commercial strategy aligned to ambitious growth targets
- Drive revenue across both new business and existing customer portfolios
- Define and embed a clear Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and go-to-market approach
- Pricing & Commercial Excellence
- Establish structured and consistent pricing frameworks across the business
- Drive margin improvement through better pricing discipline and governance
- Standardise approach to project pricing
- Lead pricing strategies and customer communication
- Key Accounts & Customer Engagement
- Own relationships with major customers and strategic accounts
- Support and develop the Business Development and Account Management teams
- Enhance customer experience and service communication standards
- Marketing & Brand Development
- Lead the evolution of the company’s brand as it scales
- Oversee lead generation strategy including digital marketing and campaign management
- Align marketing activity with commercial objectives
- Leadership of Central Functions
- Direct oversight of key head office functions, including: Marketing, Health & Safety, Technology and Cyber Security, HR, Fleet Management
- Drive efficiency, alignment, and performance across these areas to support business growth
- M&A Integration
- Support acquisition integration, particularly in pricing and commercial alignment
- Ensure newly acquired businesses adopt consistent commercial practices
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Operate in a matrix structure alongside Operations, Sales, and Finance
- Partner closely with the COO on service delivery alignment
- Bring commercial rigour without losing entrepreneurial agility
- Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role (CCO, Commercial Director, or equivalent)
- Background in service-led, contract-based environments (e.g. engineering services, facilities management, M&E, HVAC, fire & security, or similar)
- Track record of driving growth within a high-growth or acquisitive business
- Experience managing both revenue functions and central support functions
- Strong understanding of pricing strategy, contract management, and recurring revenue models
- Customer-centric with experience managing key accounts
- Ability to balance structure and process with entrepreneurial flexibility
