Experience is not essential. The key skills required to be a carer will come naturally to the right person: kindness, compassion, empathy, and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of the residents in our care.

We provide on‑job induction complemented by a programme of flexible online and in‑house training, and offer a formal NVQ qualification to those who are interested.

Purpose of the Position:

To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence, and to help in the general day‑to‑day activities of the home. Care provided by care assistants is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the service user’s own family and is not expected to include tasks that would normally be expected to be undertaken by a trained nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support with personal care, including washing and dressing, and continence care
  • Administering medication
  • Spending time with residents to promote and share in activities and interests
  • Serving meals and refreshments, and providing support as required
  • Light domestic duties, including laundry
  • Following care plans to provide the highest possible standards of personalised care, and recording care provided
