We are seeking a highly experienced Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) for a specialist 6-month remote contract. This project is focused on a high-value targeted audit of comorbidities within a Trust’s non-elective (emergency) backlog. This is a critical role designed to ensure clinical accuracy and optimise the Trust's financial reimbursement through meticulous retrospective checks and HRG validation.
Key DetailsThe Workload: You will be responsible for reviewing and amending a retrospective backlog of non-elective cases. Unlike standard coding, this role requires a "detective" mindset to identify missed comorbidities and complications (CCs) that accurately reflect patient complexity.
Focus: Reviewing emergency admission records to ensure all relevant comorbidities are captured.
Impact: Amending existing coding to improve data quality and HRG accuracy.
RequirementsEssential:
- National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) is mandatory.
- Expert knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 standards.
- Proven experience in Non-Elective/Emergency admission coding.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote capacity while maintaining high productivity. You will be a fully integrated member of the clinical coding team for the duration of this contract.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in Clinical Coding Validation or Auditing.
