Role Description The Project Surveyor / Cost Manager will work on-site in Norwich in a full-time capacity, supporting the successful delivery of construction projects across various sectors. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing cost plans, budgets, and estimates; monitoring project costs and reporting variances; and providing commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves reviewing designs and specifications, undertaking measurements and valuations, and contributing to value engineering and risk management. The Project Surveyor / Cost Manager will assist with procurement strategies, tender documentation, and contractor negotiations, as well as contract administration, payment assessments, and final accounts. The position requires close collaboration with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure that project objectives, budgets, and timelines are met.
Qualifications
- Strong quantity surveying and cost management skills, including cost planning, estimating, and budget control.
- Experience with procurement processes, tendering, contract administration, and commercial negotiation.
- Competence in measurement, valuations, and preparation of bills of quantities or schedules of work.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and contribute to value engineering and risk assessment.
- Proficiency with relevant industry software and tools, and comfort working with up-to-date cost data.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Relevant professional qualification or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline; progression toward RICS or equivalent professional membership is advantageous.
- Experience in residential, commercial, or public sector construction projects is beneficial, particularly in a consultancy environment.
- Ability to work independently, manage workloads and deadlines, and maintain professional standards in an on-site setting.
