A returning client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking for an experienced and professional Housekeeper or Housekeeper/Laundress to join their private household in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete care and management of the household's laundry, wardrobes, and linens, maintaining exceptional standards of garment care, organisation, and presentation. Previous experience in a high-end private household or luxury residence is essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong knowledge of luxury fabrics and garment care, and be able to work independently while supporting the wider household team.
Duties to include:
- Managing all household laundry, including washing, drying, ironing, steaming, folding, and pressing
- Hand washing and caring for delicate, luxury, and designer garments
- Stain removal and specialist garment treatments
- Minor clothing repairs, including stitching, mending, and replacing buttons
- Managing household linen inventories and maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Organising and maintaining linen cupboards, including spa and swimming pool towels
- Wardrobe management, ensuring clothing is clean, pressed and correctly stored
- Packing and unpacking clothing for family travel
- Managing dry cleaning, including records, collections, and returns
- Maintaining a clean, organised and fully stocked laundry room
- Cleaning and maintaining laundry equipment and reporting any faults
- Providing housekeeping support when laundry duties allow, including vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning designated areas
- Supporting the wider housekeeping team as required
Days & Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am - 2 pm or 10 am - 3 pm
Salary: £20 - £22 gross per hour
