A long-standing client of Greycoat Lumleys is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Housekeeper/Cook to join their wonderful household team of five other housekeepers. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of what can be at times a lively household and take pleasure in preparing delicious meals, this could be the role for you.
In this position, you will be responsible for creating healthy and flavoursome meals for the principal in the chef's absence and assisting with food preparation when the chef is present. They are looking for someone who thrives both independently and as part of a well-established team of housekeepers. Experience with ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients is a bonus. The ideal candidate should be able to keep up with a busy schedule and be adaptable to spontaneous changes. You will also experience quieter times when the principal is not in residence, so the ability to adjust to a slower pace is essential.
While chef-standard cooking skills are not required, having a flair for preparing healthy dishes is a must. In addition to your culinary skills, you will also assist with housekeeping duties when you are not needed in the kitchen. Full housekeeping training can be provided if you are new to this role. A positive attitude and being a great team player are key attributes for joining this fun and friendly team.
Duties to include:
- Cleaning to a high standard alongside the Housekeeping team
- Occasional Service Duties (this is mostly buffet-style)
- Cooking meals in the absence of the Chef (x2 days per week)
- Stock control in the kitchen
- Ordering of kitchen supplies and foods
- Helping the principal and chef with food prep
- Laying informal table settings, on occasion formal
- Helping with dinner parties and events on occasion
- Other ad hoc duties as required
The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for cooking. Discretion is key, along with having a professional demeanour. This person needs to be proactive, efficient, have a positive upbeat energy, and be a driver with a clean license. In addition, previous experience working in large private households or on superyachts would be advantageous or 5* hotels, although this is not a necessity.
Days: 5 days on, 2 days off on a rota shift (flexible to work on weekends when the principal or guests are in residence), usually 1 weekend per month. When you are working over the weekend, you will receive two days off in the week.
Hours: 8am – 5pm, very occasional 11am -8pm shift only for events or dinners.
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 GPA, negotiable depending on experience.
Starts: As soon as the right candidate is found.
