Our wonderful clients are seeking a dedicated and discreet housekeeper to care for their newly refurbished 5-bedroom rural property in the Cotswolds, which boasts stunning views of the countryside. The property sits on 3.5 acres of land, on the edge of a village, and is easy to access. The family is informal and friendly, but they are looking for someone who will be careful and considerate of their home, maintaining it to the highest standards. Both parents are full-time professionals, with working lives divided between London and at home, and occasionally travelling.
This role is likely to offer 40 hours of work per week. The family has two school-age sons who attend boarding school. They currently have a kitten and intend to have a dog, so a candidate must be pet-friendly. The family values their staff highly; their first nanny was with them for nine years.
It is not a requirement to work over the festive periods or bank holidays, but occasional weekend and evening work may be requested (with reasonable notice, and time off in lieu or overtime pay). A gardener is also employed on the property.
Duties to include:
- Housekeeping to a high standard
- Running reasonable errands, dealing with deliveries
- Laundry and ironing, including care of delicate fabrics
- Cooking nutritious and healthy food for the children occasionally during school holidays
- During school holidays dropping the children to activities etc.
- Cooking for the whole family and for dinner parties would be a bonus
- Provisioning for the household and ensuring the home is organised
- Some driving duties
- Animal care (the family have a kitten and intend to have a dog)
- Arranging and liaising with contractors and reporting any faults with the property to the principals
- House and pet sitting when the family are away
- Keeping the pool and tennis court areas, and exterior of the property, clean & tidy
- Organising to have the cars valeted and serviced
The ideal person would be child-friendly, pet-friendly, kind, caring and considerate, and a ‘team player’. You will need to have good timekeeping and organisational skills. The Principals seek someone who is proactive, and motivated to take responsibility for their own work. Feedback and communication is really important to them. You will need to be a driver with a clean license. An automatic car is provided for work purposes, but the candidate will need their own car because of the location.
Start date: As soon as possible, will wait for someone to finish a one month notice period.
Working week: Monday- Friday (flexible for occasional weekend work when the family entertain, time off will be given in lieu)
Hours: Approximately 40 hours, start time & finish time negotiable
Salary: £negotiable for the right candidate and depending on hours and cooking ability in the region of £40-£45,000 GPA
Accommodation: newly refurbished 1-bedroom self-contained separate annexe situated away from the main house overlooking the (future) kitchen garden and with own parking space. Partners are welcome, pets will be considered. All reasonable bills are included.
