Live-in Housekeeper / Cook job near Hurst, Berkshire. An exciting long-term position with travel for a lovely family with 2 children. The role is to run their six-bedroom home, carrying out all housekeeping duties and catering a simple lunch for the parents and the family evening meal. They also have a German Shepherd, so you must be happy with animals. A uniform is provided. The ability to speak Italian would be an advantage. You will need to hold an EU passport or valid visa, as you will be required to travel with the family to their properties in the Swiss Alps and Tuscany during the holidays, for periods ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months.

Duties to include:

  • Hands-on housekeeping, cleaning and tidying
  • Laundry, including washing and ironing
  • Cooking a light, fresh and healthy lunch for the parents
  • Preparing, catering and serving the family evening meal
  • Catering to dinner-party standard when the family entertain
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine is an advantage (training can be provided)
  • Helping with the children, including organising school kits
  • Occasional proxy parenting and babysitting, approximately one evening per week by arrangement (children aged 11, requiring supervision only)
  • Helping with the dog and occasional dog sitting

Partners will be considered. Driving is a bonus but not essential. Candidates must have their own car for personal use; a car will be provided for work purposes.

Hours: Flexibility required, approximately 9/10am – 8pm, 8 hours per day with time off during the day, 5 days per week, Monday – Friday, with flexibility for weekends when needed, 40 hours per week with flexibility.

Accommodation: One-bedroom self-contained accommodation in a separate annex with its own entrance.

Salary: £40,000 GPA plus, depending on experience.
